What does an adaptation visit look like?

During the adaptation visit, the most important goal is to have a positive experience for the child. At the beginning of the appointment, the office staff introduces the child to the office environment by showing the various tools and equipment in a friendly manner. This may include demonstrations of how the dental chair works or what a dental drill sounds like.

The dentist then performs a 'toy' check-up where the child has the chance to learn what to expect at future visits. This 'pretend' checkup may include things such as counting teeth or learning about the different stages of cleaning teeth.
