The next step is to cut the gum and replace the locking screws with healing ones. These need several days to heal. The prosthodontist then inserts an abutment or attachment system for the prosthesis. 

Further action includes taking an impression, based on which a full or partial denture is fitted. It will either be fixed with special clasps or screwed in place.
