As many as 70% Poles suffer from periodontitis. Although periodontal disease is often associated with the elderly, it starts as early as the age of 30. If left untreated, periodontitis can cause not only sensitivity and pain, but also loosening of the teeth in the gums and, consequently, tooth loss. Paradontosis, which is actually what?

Periodontitis is an inflammation of the periodontal tissues. They are the reason why a tooth does not move and is firmly placed in the alveolus. The periodontium includes, among other things, the gums, periosteum and periodontium.

Periodontitis is the second most common oral disease after caries.

And what are its causes?

Periodontitis is an inherited disease. Therefore, if someone in your family is struggling with it, you should visit your dentist's office regularly.

The second factor responsible for the development of periodontitis is poor oral hygiene. Brushing your teeth after every meal is not enough. If you want to avoid periodontal disease, you must floss regularly and at least once every six months make an appointment for in-office hygiene. Is it already parodontosis?

The first symptoms of periodontitis are bleeding gums when brushing or even spontaneously, swollen gums and hypersensitivity. You should not underestimate this. It is better to make an appointment with your dentist right away and start treatment.

If you do not take care of your teeth at this stage, you have to reckon with the unpleasant consequences, i.e. unpleasant mouth odour or receding gums and exposed tooth necks. This is not only an aesthetic problem, but above all a health problem. Periodontitis can result in the appearance of purulent discharge in the gum area, as well as tooth mobility, tooth sparseness, tooth leaning and even tooth loss.

How to treat periodontitis?  

As with all diseases, the effectiveness of treatment depends on the extent of the disease.

Some people underestimate the symptoms and use toothpastes and mouthwashes. Although this helps reduce the symptoms it does not remove the cause, thus the disease continues to progress and treatment becomes more difficult over time.

The early stage of the disease is relatively easy to treat. Regular tartar and plaque removal and proper oral hygiene are most important at this stage. In our office, you will receive full instruction on how to care for your teeth and support the dental treatment of periodontitis on your own.

When periodontal disease is already at an advanced stage, its treatment is time-consuming and already requires the use of specialised equipment.

Vector Paro Pro in the fight against periodontitis

We use the best equipment available on the market to treat periodontitis. We are the first practice in the UK to have the Vector Paro Pro, enabling us to provide our patients with the highest standard of periodontal disease treatment.

How is this equipment different from the others? The Vector Paro Pro uses sound and ultrasound, which is not new to the treatment of periodontitis. However, vibration has been completely eliminated with this equipment. The tips move on an elliptical track which prevents damage to the root cement and soft tissues. This makes the treatment itself effective, but also gentle and painless for the patient.

Importantly, Vector Paro Pro is able to reach and remove tartar from even the most inaccessible areas such as the area around the root of the tooth. This gets rid of the bacteria responsible for periodontal disease and guarantees effective treatment.

The first stage of treatment is the removal of the supragingival calculus, followed by the subgingival calculus, which is deposited deep in the gingival pockets. The final stage is the cleaning of the root cement. The use of a fluid with hydroxyapatite and calcium phosphate microparticles additionally reduces tooth sensitivity during and also after the procedure.

This procedure should be repeated depending on the patient's needs and state of health. In the absence of burdens (diabetes, nicotinism, among others) and if the patient cares for oral hygiene at the same time, the procedure should be repeated every 4-6 months.
